The Aperture quilt is made with optical illusion quilt blocks. Each block is put together similar to a log cabin block with nothing harder than half square triangles.FABRIC: The Pattern Play batik collection was designed by renowned fiber artists Debra Lunn and Michael Mrowka (pronounced ma-ROOF-ka) of Lunn Studios and feature gorgeous geometric patterns in rich shades of brown, blue, teal, rust and gold.100% combed cotton batik fabric hand made in Indonesia. Machine wash cold, no bleach, wash dark colors separately, tumble dry low, remove promptly.The overall finished size of this lap quilt as shown in picture 1 is 60 x 72.The kit contains a free printed copy of the Aperture quilt pattern and instructions designed by Ariga Mahmoudlou for Robert Kaufman Fabrics along with enough batik fabric to complete the quilt top and edge binding as shown in picture 1. Backing fabric and batting will need to be purchased separately.Fabrics in this kit are from the Pattern Play and Prisma Dyes Batik collections by Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Picture 2 shows all the fabrics included in this kit, and pictures 3 thru 10 show larger images of some of these fabrics.Skill Level: BeginnerThe pattern recommends 4 yards of fabric for your backing assuming a 44/45 width along with an 68 x 80 piece of batting. Additional fabric could be needed if using a directional print or fabric design matching. BACKING FABRIC AND BATTING ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS KIT. You can purchase coordinating fabric from the collection for your backing if you desire, and it will be shipped with your kit.About 7-1/4 yards of fabric is included with the kit along with the color copy of the pattern/instructions.
