I use Costco’s Kirkland brand plastic wrap. Back in the day when the cardboard box used to be blue, I never had issues. The new packaging these days come in a red cardboard box and the slider no longer work like they used to. The slider is now adhered with double sided tape or something like that which causes it to come off or move around and I just can’t get it to cut properly anymore. I bought this dispenser in hopes to resolve this issue.This dispenser is great as far as build quality, very sturdy and easy to use. It also looks nice. The slider blade works extremely well, much better and wider than the generic slider that comes with the red Kirkland box. One of the issues I had with this dispenser is that the wood dowel inside is LOUD when dispensing, and doesn’t allow the plastic to roll well, so I decided not to use it. I want to continue using the plastic end holder that comes with Kirkland packaging, but it does not fit into the dispenser. I was able to modify it by using a bread knife and sawed off an eighth inch from each side of the plastic holders so they can fit into the dispenser. Once everything is inside, there’s a little gap at each end so I needed to stuff a few layers of cardboard at each side to make it steady, otherwise the plastic holders will not stay in place to do their job. This dispenser works great after my modifications. I recommend buying this dispenser if you can make these modifications.If only this dispenser was sized to where you can take the contents out of the Kirkland cardboard box including the plastic end holders and put them directly into this dispenser without needing any of the modifications I made. This will be a huge improvement, and I would buy it again just so I never have to make modifications to future plastic rolls that I buy at Costco again. You wouldn’t need to include the wood dowel at all (or it can be optional usage).
