Terracotta tile Salir 30×7.5 cm. Each Terracotta tile is handmade in small production units in the south of Portugal. The mix of red and white clays from the Eastern Algarve and the burning process inside the kiln make each Terracotta tile unique. After hydrating and kneading the clay, the master craftsmen shapes it manually in wooden moulds. Then, the tiles go through an air drying process followed by fire burning in a traditional oven. A simple but time-consuming process that has been used practically unchanged since ancient times. The manufacturing time can vary between 35 and 40 days in Summer and can extend up to 60 days during Winter. Each handmade Terracotta tile Salir 30×7.5 has variations in tone, has a rustic and textured appearance and irregular edges that, together with marks and small inlays, make each tile different and unique.
